1.Get a piece of parchment / baking paper and fold in half;

2.Fold into quarters;

3.Then continue folding twice more until you have a fairly thin triangle.

4.Hold over the cooking vessel with pointy end lined up in the middle;

5.Snip the end off – this will make it round and fit the steamer;

6.Cut little triangles along the edge about 2.5cm/1″ apart – these will be the holes;

7.Do this all down the folded edge, and snip the pointy end off;

8.Unfold and place in bamboo steamer!

Q: What can be used as steamer paper?

A: Parchment paper, also known as baking paper. Cheap paper will fall apart or tear easily. It is perfectly fine to re-use them on the one day you are steaming as long as they are intact and free of dumpling residue.

Q: Can I use parchment paper to steam dumplings?

A: You can either place the dumplings onto individual small pieces of parchment, or cut rounds that fit the steamer basket (make sure to poke holes in the parchment paper to make vents for the steam to go through).

Q: Can you use wax paper as steamer paper?

A: Parchment isn't fully sealed like a souisvide bag would be. The dry heat of an oven will be different than the moist heat of steaming through the porus paper.

A: Parchment paper lets steam pass through, making it ideal for steaming foods. To cook, wrap ingredients in parchment paper and place them in the microwave or steamer.

Q: Can you use baking paper as steaming paper?

A: If you run out, you can use baking paper instead. Carefully cut a circular piece of baking paper to fit within the 25cm bamboo basket. Perforate the parchment paper to allow steam through (holes can be cut-out by folding the steamer paper in half and cutting small semicircles along the edges).
